The Missing Evidence Trumps Dogmatism—Adopt these Books!

Strike the Final Blow to the Teaching of Evolution in Texas

Even though these biology books are full of unsubstantiated dogmatic statements supporting evolution, there are still two major reasons to adopt them. First, by so doing, you will strike the final blow to the teaching of evolution in Texas. There are some hidden jewels in these texts—just waiting to be mined by inquisitive students—that can destroy evolution.

In 2009, when the board adopted new science standards, the anti-creationists were painted into a corner. The authors were required to provide scientific evidence for evolution’s explanations of the sudden appearance and stasis of groups in the fossil record and the complexity of the cell—and, most importantly, to identify the specific pages where they do so—these sections are the hidden jewels. [See “The Hidden Jewels” to identify the page numbers for each major publisher]

The following week, AAAS’s Science reported “New science standards for Texas schools strike a major blow to the teaching of evolution.” The adoption of these books represents the final blow because, despite the evolutionist’s boastful assertions of “robust” evidence for evolution, when you actually read those identified sections—the hidden jewels—you will find the evidence incredibly weak to non-existent. And if there is no evidence, there is no evolution.

Science tests explanations—classically, with controlled experiments, and historically, by collecting evidence. Genetics is an excellent example of classical testability. Mendel, in 1865 after growing 29,000 pea plants, empirically deduced the laws of inheritance.

Continental drift is an excellent example of historical testability. The obvious fit of the coastlines of Africa and South America with similar geology, along with the discovery of the Mid Atlantic Ridge and sea-floor spreading make a convincing argument.

Likewise, evolution is tested historically, and extraordinary claims need extraordinary evidence. How much? Simply, they must explain the origin of everything else in the book. Here is one book’s index of what must be explained. [Show Index from a biology text] And this chart represents just one of those items which evolution must account for —biochemical pathways! [Show Biochemical Pathways Chart]

How much evidence do the authors actually provide? In 2011, Miller and Levine’s section on the “complexity of the cell” presented only two specific facts! The 2013 edition presents NONE!
Like magicians, they just wave a magic wand of words, present some just-so stories with simple illustrations and apparently hope the students do not realize that they have not been provided any evidence for evolution. Specifically, they just beg the question.

Support the Bible

The second reason I think you should adopt these books is because they happen, coincidently, to support what the Bible says. The Bible says “God created all life after their kind.” What we see in the world supports what the Bible says. We see amazing complexity in myriads of things that replicate themselves and can be organized into distinct classifications; simple observational studies support what the Bible says.

Plus, everything we see in these textbooks supports what the Bible says. Test it for yourself; open at random any page and ask yourself if the description or illustration you find supports the claims of the Bible or of evolution.

Even the units on evolution support what the Bible says because, as demonstrated, they don’t even support evolution.

Conclusion

Ironically, evolutionists argue that creationists want to force their religious views into the text, but just the teaching of biology accomplishes that. And, teaching evolution demonstrates that’s not how God did it.

Since true testable science trumps dogmatism, strike the final blow to the teaching of evolution; support the Bible; adopt these books!

Don, I can’t begin to understand how you can say that everything in the Bible is supported by biology. To start with one of the most obvious glaring Biblical contradictions to biology, two words: Virgin Mary. Show me where any research about human sexual reproduction even hints at the possibility of parthenogenesis in humans and I’ll try real hard to take this line of reasoning seriously.

It’s easy: he is immensely ignorant, and he is immensely intellectually dishonest.
